'God at the Ritz' is de titel van het boek dat Lorenzo Albacete in één klap beroemd maakte. Een aantal journalisten hadden hem uitgenodigd in het Carlton Ritz hotel voor een documentaire over paus Johannes Paulus II, een persoonlijke vriend van hem, maar de gesprekken ontwikkelden een eigen dynamiek waarvan Albacete de neerslag optekende in een boek dat een bestseller werd. Deze Mystical Monsignor, zoals hij wordt genoemd, woont en werkt in de Bronx, een van de buitenwijken van New York waar vooral Spaanssprekenden en Afro-Amerikanen wonen. Albacete is tevens columnist voor de New York Times en een graag geziene medewerker van CNN. Wat bracht Albacete, een fysicus in de ruimtewetenschappen ertoe katholiek priester te worden?
