Fonte Avellana (970) heeft als abdij in Italië een aantal merkwaardige titels op haar naam: het was de thuis van Petrus Damianus en Dante, is erkend als erfgoed van de mensheid en bezit het oudste goed bewaarde scriptorium ter wereld. In deze abdij werden nieuwe glasramen geïnstalleerd, gecreëerd door de Vlaamse glazenier Joost Caen. De gemeenschap leek tot uitsterven gedoemd, maar is nu vitaler dan ooit. The abbey of Fonte Avellana
Fonte Avellana (970) has a number of remarkable titles on its name as an abbey in Italy: it used to be the home of Petrus Damianus and Dante, has been recognised as heritage of humanity and has the oldest well kept scriptorium in the world. New stained-glass windows were installed in this abbey, designed by the Flemish Stained Glass Artist Joost Caen. The community seemed doomed to disappear, but today it’s more vital than ever. There are five young monks and three new candidates. The abbey lacks fundamentalism, on the contrary: a fresh renewing spirit is blowing.

Fonte Avellana (970) est une abbaye italienne remarquable à plusieurs titres: elle fut la demeure de Petrus Damianus et de Dante, a été reconnue comme héritage de l'humanité et possède le scriptorum le plus ancien et le mieux conservé du monde. De nouveaux vitraux ont été installés dans cette abbaye, créés par l’artiste flamand Joost Caen. Cette communauté qui semblait vouée à disparaître il y a quelques années, a aujourd’hui retrouvé vie et compte cinq jeunes moines et trois nouveaux candidats. Sans aucun fondamentalisme, il y règne au contraire, un esprit rénovateur frais.
