The Carol Singers
50 Years of Development Cooperation
In remembrance of the Biblical astrologers from the East, each year some 90.000 Austrian children, dressed up as the Three Kings, trek from door to door around the New Year period. As carol singers they bring Christmas greetings and at the same time ask the people to show solidarity: yearly more than 500 development projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America are financed by donations made to the carol singers and implemented by local partner organisations.
This film by director Gernot Lercher and cameraman Erhard Seidl looks behind the scenes at this unique way of development cooperation.
