The incident of deception by the catechists, conflict caused by different vision, and the plan of closing the centre of mission in Muntilan were really a heavy burden for Fr. Van Lith. His life was just like a melting candle, because it has to burn for God. In the midst of uncertainty, God did His work by sending 171 people as the first Javanese baptism. The first baptism in Sendang Sono was the providence of God for Van Lith. The education for teachers, that Fr. Van Lith had always desired, was revitalized. Fr. Van Lith became a powerful representative of education for the indegenous people. Education played a very important role in the process of liberating the people he served. When his followers had been freed from ignorance, poverty and oppression, could Catholicism be realized as true spirituality. For Van Lith to be Catholic meant to bring Catholicism to our lives with all of our dignity as human being. Deception, corruption, ignorance of human dignity are the portraits of our daily lives. Learning from Van Lith, the Church served as the sign of salvation which really existed among its congregations.
