Kinshasa, a new director
Mr. Lino Pungi is the new director of the Catholic Television station of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The station is called TV Elikya. Many sects have build their own television station in the city, exploiting the credulity of the population. Catholics urged the Church to start its own television station in order to be present in that booming media. But the challenge is enormous. Lino needs help. Write to him.
Newman program in urdu
Newman, a Man for Our Time, produced by Albert Street Productions, in Australia, will be dubbed into urdu by the Catholic TV channel of Karachi, in Pakistan. Fr. Jalal, in charge of the channel, needed a sponsor to cover the costs of the rights to acquire the program. The Diocesan Audiovisual Centre of Hong Kong offered to cover the costs of the rights. Asian solidarity !
Catholic Digest, in Ghana
Bro. Stephen Domelevo is the Executive Producer of the Catholic Digest program shown on GTV (Ghana Television) every Saturday, at 6:00am to 6:30am and on Crystal TV Narrow Gate at 9:30am to 10am. To have a look at the program, go to the website: communication office.
Tele Lumiere Goes Multi-lingual
Lebanese Catholic TV Tele Lumiere launched its new multi-lingual satellite programming. The programs broadcast range from a variety of cultural, social, educational, religious and family oriented programs. The channel today is offering an original 3 hours of Spanish, 3 hours of English, two of French and one hour of Portuguese programming. Prix Italia 2010
The SIGNIS Jury at the international television festival Prix Italia (Torino, Italy) gave its Prize to Mugabe And The White African produced by Channel 4 (UK). A SIGNIS Commendation was given to The Ultimate Forgiveness produced by CBC/SRC (Canada). The SIGNIS Jury members were: Cristina Trio (Italy), Guido Huysmans (Belgium), Giuseppe Musardo (Italy), Agnès Ravoyard (France).
