GUY CONSOLMAGNO S.J.(deel 1)
Momenteel verdeelt Guy Consolmagno die in 1989 intrad bij de jezuïeten, zijn tijd tussen observaties gedurende de winter te Tucson, Arizona en in de zomer te Castel Gandolfo, nabij Rome. Daar is hij ook conservator van de Vaticaanse meteorietencollecties, één van de grootste ter wereld. Hij legt zich toe op de studie van het ontstaan en de evolutie van kleine objecten in het zonnesysteem, zoals kometen, satellieten en meteorieten. Een wetenschapper die gelooft, lijkt verre van een evidentie. Voor Guy Consolmagno is dit de uitdaging van zijn leven.

At present Guy Consolmagno, who entered the Jesuits in 1989, divides his time between observations during the winter at Tucson, Arizona and in the summer at Castel Gandolfo, near Rome. He’s also conservator of the Vatican meteorite-collections, one of the largest in the world. Time is given to the study of the origin and evolution of small objects in the solar system, such as comets, satellites and meteorites. A scientist who believes, seems far from obvious. But for Guy Consolmagno, this is the challenge of his life.

Consolmagno se consacre en particulier à l'étude de la naissance et de l'évolution des petits objets dans le système solaire, comme les comètes, les satellites et les météorites. At present he divides his time between observations during the winter at Tucson, Arizona and in the summer at Castel Gandolfo, near to Rome. This second part is focused on a travel to Antartica in search of meteorites and the meteorite-collection of the Vatican.

CHRISTOPHER JAMISON ‘Dat wordt lachen’ zal wel door de hoofden gegaan zijn van menigeen wanneer ze afstemden op ‘The Monastery’. Dat deze kloosterserie gefilmd in de benedictijnenabdij te Worth (UK) drie miljoen kijkers aan hun scherm zou kluisteren, had niemand kunnen voorspellen. Abt Christopher Jamison geloofde in het project. Tijdens ons interview met hem wordt al snel duidelijk dat deze monnik niet alleen stevig geworteld is in de benedictijnse traditie, hij weet tegelijk wonderwel wat er in onze moderne samenleving aan de gang is. This will be fun, many would have thought while watching for the first time ‘The Monastery’. No one could have predicted that no less than 3 million people watched this convent serial, entirely filmed in the Benedictine abbey at Worth (UK). Abbot Christopher Jamison believed in the project from the beginning. In this interview, soon becomes clear that this monk is firmly rooted in the benedictian tradition. He also knows wonderwel what’s at pace in our modern society. C’est amusant, ont sans doute pensé beaucoup de gens en regardant pour la première fois ‘The Monastery'. Personne n’aurait pu prévoir que 3 millions de spectateurs on regardé cette série, entièrement filmée dans l'abbaye bénédictine de Worth (dans le R-U). L'abbé Christopher Jamison a cru en ce projet dès le début. Dans cette entrevue, apparaît vite que ce moine est fermement enraciné dans la tradition bénédictine tout en étant parfaitement au courant de ce qui se passe dans notre société moderne.
